Oh oh… my folders need new folders – Jacket All Sorts
I always have a little moment of fear when the folders I have in my inventory are now obsolete or inadequate. Yesterday I realised my ‘jacket’ folder had extended past the length of my inventory box – hence, the need for a new folder or two to continue the division and conquer of my inventory.
Just as some men are boob fellows and other like some back, I believe there are two categories of women – shoe women and everyone else. I have an assortment of shoes that tend to either out-and-out insane (err… anyone for boots that trail toilet paper after them? Hey! I never said I was classy!) or simple and elegant (hello Shiny Things).
We all have our obsessions (though I feel the shoe brigade is most vocal) and mine is the jacket. I like ‘em long or short, bold or muted, plain or fancy. I’ve always thought an outfit hinges on the jacket – paired with basics, you can go as crazy as you like with the jacket portion – and my winter wardrobe attests to that.
So, to salute my burgeoning inventory and to welcome autumn in my neck of the woods, I give you… jacket all sorts.
This is a fairly atypical outfit for me, partially because I haven’t utilised the undershirt/shirt/jacket option, but mostly because the dominant colour is pink. See how it almost gives me a headache?!
When I started university, all I wanted was a jacket like this – it was the absolute height of cool. Reason #875,643 why I love SL.
I tend to dress by not removing anything at all and substituting clothing items until I start to get an idea of where I’m heading. This wasn’t where I intended to go with this outfit when I first started out, but sometimes the inventory gods have other ideas… and being almost memory free when it comes to what I’ve purchased can be a blessing in disguise. Sure, I’ve managed to buy heaps of stuff twice (any struggling designers out there are free to call me – I’m great for openings), but I have no qualms about typing in a random assortment of letters (‘gre’ ‘tar’) and trying on whatever pops ups.
This was my favourite of all the looks – it wasn’t for a particular love of any of the pieces, though they’re all well realised, but it made me think of the character of Camilla from The Secret History, a marvelous book that should be required reading. In fact, if you’ve not read it, don’t finish the post – scoot off to the bookstore. Chop chop. New England autumns and the turning of the leaves, brisk walks between college classes, cups of tea in a salvaged armchair under a charmingly splintered mirror, and, if you know the book, a little brotherly love and murder.

looks cuddle-y. I like winter. Is it coming soon?
you should start using animals (think basic shapes repeated) as back grounds for your photos. They can send a powerful message to the sub-conscious mind about what mood you are trying to convey.
Plus, I think that your favorite of all looks would go really well with the same colors in the back-ground – but cats. Botanical images would also work well, autumnal leaves, fire etc. x x x
