Who can? Kin can!

Kin Keiko is one of my favourite hair designers. I stumbled across her store first at Glass Earth, famous for it’s live music, roach stomping events and junkyard neko aesthetic. It remains one of my favourite places to shop, and I love that belonging to Glass Earth group affords me the title ‘Irradiated’, which I know means treated with radiation, but I prefer to think of as an amalgamation of ‘Illuminated’ and ‘Irritated’.

‘Ash’, shown on the right, is my all-time, hands-down, most-loved hair. It was my first purchase from Kin, and stands the test of time (and frequent assaults from Truth’s releases… he’s tilting at the crown, I’d say, but he’s not there yet!) in an inventory that represents more hair then I’d wager I actually have on my RL head.

The very prettily named ‘Lia’ is shown on the left, and features one of those lazy ponytails where most of the hair has gotten caught in the elastic, and made a loose bun. If you’ve ever met me inworld when it’s my morning, this is exactly how my hair is looking in RL… exactly, if you overlook the knots and the pockets of independent thought where my hair decides to follow its own agenda by moving north. So, like, totally the same.

This length of hair infuriates me in RL. It’s just there, with no real purpose or contribution other than coverage and chin tickling. I much prefer pixels, and ‘Starr’, on your left, which has a slightly off-centre part, does it well, with one side tucked behind your ear, and the other hanging loose over the eye. I’m a very infrequent blonde-hair wearer, so it’s not a real issue for me, but I’m not a huge fan of the blonde tones from Kin. This style in black I really, really like – the perfect combination of body and shape to my mind. It also kind of looks like a grown out version of ‘Ash’.

‘Misa’ wouldn’t have normally jumped into my shopping trolley, but that impossibly straight and shiny texture was unlike anything I have in my inventory. I think it will come to the fore for semi-formal occasions, or business meetings… were I ever to attend any!

I think one of the things that attracts me most to Kin hair is her inclination to at least partially cover an eye with a wisp of hair or a fringe. I love the idea that I’m peering out at you.’ Annie’, on the left, is one of the longest and most conventional styles offered by Kin, and, naturally, has a little kick of hair over the right eye.

‘Edna’ looks, from this angle at least, similar in style to ‘Lia’. Don’t be fooled! This style is a simple chignon with a braid detail at the apex of the bun. It’s incredibly elegant, but made edgy, as in this picture, with sassy colour combinations.

‘Apostate’ (left) and ‘Blossom’ (right) are both very contextual styles, to my mind. ‘Apostate’ with Nicky Ree? Probably not. ‘Apostate’ with WRONG? Rockit. I think this style’s been in my inventory for an age, and I’ve not yet found occasion to wear it… must right that injustice immediately!

I found ‘Blossom’ adorable, but was nagged by the sense that I looked a bit like Minnie Mouse when I was posing these images. Whilst the two little half buns are reminiscent of the lady rodent, I think my Artilleri skin with those very beautiful and red lips, paired with a red jacket from Nylon (not that you can tell it’s red) were just an amusing coincidence. Achariya’s latest blog post features Violet Volaire, who’s wearing ‘Blossom’ with nary a hint of rodent, so I’m reckoning you won’t be neko bait when wearing this one.

Doesn’t ‘Jami’, on the left, make you think of hair fresh out of the pool or the ocean? Incidentally, I’d like to flag my 3 months of regional hatred for all of you northerners with your summer and your vacations and your bikini-wearing insolence – we might have mild-ish winters here in Australia, but it’s still freaking cold for my thin blood. Please send woolen socks asap!

‘Karei’ is my hiding hair – when I feel like I want even my avatar to be invisible, this is the hair I turn to. I last wore it with my Kyoot ear-muffs, which was an adorable mix, though did look a little odd on the beach.

Kin’s main store is on Evantide Far East, and tis a very pretty little sim. Off you go – you know a good thing when you see it!
